Gus Guardino

I attended Crespi Carmelite High School and graduated in 1971. Upon graduation I attended Gonzaga University where I earned a B.S. degree in Biology.  After graduation I wanted to follow in my dad’s footsteps, so I enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served for 6 years, and was Honorably discharged in 1982.  I went to work for Hughes Markets as a store manager in 1982.  But an unfortunate incident forced me to retire from Hughes in 1987, and after a few years I returned to school in 1990.  I enrolled at California State University Northridge to pursue a degree in Kinesiology.  I was awarded a B.S. degree in Kinesiology and went on to earn a master’s degree in Biomechanics.

At CSUN I discovered my passion for Biomechanics, so after graduating I set about expanding my private training business to include strength and conditioning and sport performance training. Over the next few years, I acquired certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), USA Weightlifting, and USA Track and Field.

Prior to opening EA Fitness in 2016, I continued coaching track and football and served as the strength and condition coach and assistant athletic trainer at several local high schools in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.  My affiliation with Westlake High School gave me my first opportunity to work in a clinic as a Bio-mechanist under the guidance of doctors and therapists. That experience became the foundation of my personal training philosophy.

The last 25 years have been an ongoing education in refining my skills.  Biomechanics has become the foundation of my practice.  I have chosen to refer to my style of training as Transitional.  Whether you’re a first timer, or a person looking to get back in shape after too many years behind a desk.  Maybe you’re an athlete hoping to improve your level of performance, or someone who’s in the process of rehabilitating from an injury or surgery, Transitional Therapy & Training can change your life.
